Gordon’s Wine Bar, established in 1890 and thought to be London’s oldest, is a popular venue for office workers and tourists wanting to experience a taste of Dickensian London. Owner Simon Gordon noticed that petty theft was becoming a growing problem in the bar’s atmospheric, candle-lit cellars.

Simon Gordon wanted to prevent his customers becoming victims of theft, both to avoid the distress caused by the loss of a bag or briefcase and to protect the bar’s reputation. He developed ‘Facewatch’, an innovative web-based app enabling businesses to instantly submit digital evidence packages to the police online. As adoption and use of the Facewatch system grew by businesses and the police, so did the requirement to host the data in a reliable and secure environment that was trusted and recognised by all.
